Seismic Shotgun Accessories and Product Rollout

Seismic Shotgun Innovations designs and manufactures accessories for the Seismic Shooting System. Products for the Remington 870 and Mossberg 500/590 pistol-grip platforms. The accessories include the Seismic Pistol Grip, RM Weld, and Picatinny mounting systems on the barrel.

The Seismic Shooting System changes the dynamics of the shooter's interface with the shotgun. The shooting method and the pistol grip redirect the distribution of recoil, allowing the operator to safely bring the shotgun up to a higher ready position and use optics such as a reflex sight mounted forward on the barrel. This method changes the gun's position relative to the body by drawing the elbow back, much like an archer, and positioning the head over the receiver. With the cheek weld now attached to the receiver, the operator has a stable cheek rest and line of sight for optics such as reflex sights mounted forward on the barrel.

The pistol grip is designed for maximum comfort and control. The curved shape, combined with the shooting position, means that when fired, the recoil directs the receiver back and down, away from the face, while the hand moves forward along the grip, ready to reset for the next shot.

The Seismic Shooting System consists of three key components and one that's optional.

1.       Seismic Pistol Grip
2.       Seismic Receiver mounted cheek Weld ( RM Weld )
3.       Seismic Barrel Rail accessories.

Optional: Seismic Sling

 Seismic Pistol Grip:
The Seismic Pistol Grip delivers the ultimate comfort and control for a pistol-grip shotgun. What's amazing is that this grip, combined with Seismic Shooting Systems, offers a level of comfort with a pistol-grip shotgun that was once thought impossible. As I developed the grip, I created at least 30 designs for the Rem 870 alone before it was perfected. With the advancements, I was amazed to blast through 300 rounds without any fatigue or soreness after my training session. And what made this even more amazing was the ammo I was shooting. On a typical day, I would fire 150 rounds of target loads, 50 of high-brass 00 buck, and up to 80 slugs. I loved shooting slugs out to 100 yards. These were not low-recoil rounds either. As a result, I found shooting far more enjoyable than anything I had experienced and much more comfortable than shooting a full-stock shotgun.

The Seismic Pistol Grip offers superior control compared to anything you have experienced with a pistol-grip shotgun.  It has unique features that not only mitigate recoil but also assist in manipulating your shotgun and in achieving proper trigger control and accuracy.

Seismic RM Cheek Weld
The Receiver Mounted Cheek Weld serves two basic purposes: 1. A consistent place to rest your cheek for accurate shooting. 2. Protection against heat and contact with metal surfaces. The RM Weld is mounted where you used to mount your optics on top of the receiver.  The RM Weld will come with screws ready to mount on tapped receivers.

 Seismic Rail Accessories
The Seismic System requires optics to be mounted on the barrel. This is accomplished in several ways, depending on your shotgun model and whether the barrel is smooth or has a vent rib.  A ribbed barrel offers a solid mounting platform to attach a Picatinny rail. We offer slotted rails that fit over the rib and are secured with screws after drilling and tapping the rib.  As we move forward, these rails will be offered in a no-drill, no-tap, clamp on option.

Smooth barrels are a bit more complicated, and we will have two options available. The first option will be a rail system that attaches to the barrel.  For the second option, we will offer barrels with an integrated or brazed-on rail mounting system.  You will need to send your barrel in to have this done.

Seismic Shotgun Sling
The Seismic Shooting System includes a multipurpose sling. It is great for carrying your shotgun on treks or climbing over obstacles. However, the purpose goes far beyond.  Used properly, the sling will help to stabilize the shotgun when shooting long distances. It can also be used to mitigate recoil. If, for whatever reason, you want to shoot magnum loads. And lastly, the sling allows you to access a pistol without shouldering the shotgun.  This allows you to quickly go from shotgun to pistol and back again.

Seismic products will be available for the following platforms.

·       Remington 870 conversions for ribbed barrels
·       Mossberg 500 conversions for ribbed barrels
·       Remington and Mossberg pistol grips, shotguns with smooth barrels
·       Mossberg 590 Shockwave with 18” barrel
·       Tac 14: conversion kits with a modified barrel
·       Mossberg 590 Shockwave 14” barrel: conversion kits with a modified barrel

Semi-auto shotguns:
The Seismic Shooting System works well with semi-auto shotguns, and as the popularity of the new shooting styles grows, we plan to offer conversion kits for the Tac 13, Aftershock, and others.

Remington 870
The Remington 870 conversion kit will work well for converting any full stock 870 to the Seismic Shotgun platform. It will also work well with their pistol grip models, which already have an 18” barrel. The kits will be available for both smooth and ribbed barrels.

The Remington Tac 14 will soon follow. A Word of Caution! Make sure to get the correct Seismic Pistol Grip for the Tac 14 to meet the length requirements. To use the standard length grips, the barrel must be lengthened to compensate for the shorter grip to reach the greater than 26” requirement. This is accomplished by bracing on a muzzle break.  This has other advantages as well, like reduced recoil and more space to add a 1-shell extension, bringing the mag capacity up to 5 rounds. The next hurdle is the barrel rail; there will be a few options here. 1. Send your barrel in for brazed-on rail mounts and muzzle break. 2. We are currently developing a bolt-on rail system as well.

 Mossberg 500 and 590
Next up are the Mossberg 500 and 590s with 18” barrels. The accessory kit will work well for full-stock conversions or for current pistol-grip models with 18” barrels. Because of differences in geometry and ergonomics between the Mossberg and Remington, the Mossberg faced greater challenges in achieving the same results as Remington.  Therefore, the Mossberg grip has been redesigned and is currently being tested. Our goal is to bring it to the same standards of control and comfort as the Remington.

For more information on why the Mossberg grip poses special challenges, read the blog “Seismic Shotgun Conversions”

Mossberg 590 Shockwave with 14” barrel
As with the Tac 14, you need the extended length Seismic Grip for this Shockwave to meet the over 26” requirement. For the barrel rail option, there will be a clamp-on rail system. Or you can upgrade your barrel with a brazed-on mounting system.

Product Availability

The pace at which new products are introduced will depend on how well the Seismic Shooting System is received by the shooting community. Oftentimes, new products and systems are met with skepticism. Before we start manufacturing, it is important for us to gather feedback from those of you interested in our products and who want to learn the Seismic shooting method.

If this is you, subscribe to our newsletter and YouTube channel. Once we get rolling, you will receive a survey to help us determine which shotgun models and products you are most interested in. This will help us decide which products to prioritize and gauge our manufacturing.

For these reasons, I launched the website and videos first to educate people about the Seismic Shooting System. I encourage you to watch the videos, read the blogs, and other materials on the website.  There's a lot more to the Seismic Shooting System than just adding some new accessories to your shotgun.  This is an entirely new way to engage with your shotgun. There are safety protocols to follow, and it takes time to adapt and learn.

Fortunately, our ability to move products into production is relatively fast. We also have many new products in the prototype and testing phases. The more interest we see, the more resources we can allocate to making accessory kits available for the shotguns you want for your Seismic conversions.
